Meet Helene Lanssens, Vice President, Product Management - Claims

Lead by example and build a core team. Whether at home or in business, get your people to know what you stand for. My team does not need to be told about job flexibility; they see it in practice every day. I am one in a chain of Women in Solera (WINS) who wants to pay it forward, especially the support that we continue to receive from our work family.

At Solera, we are creating the right environment – like an oxygen mask – for women to be able to integrate work and home. In its absence, we would not be the same person. My inner compass tells me that if I do not feel guilty when prioritizing a family moment away from work, neither will my team. We communicate well and figure out our way through problems. As a mother, I’m especially sensitive to the fact that women and mothers are constantly juggling work, family, and our hopes, dreams, and aspirations, plus countless other stressors.

As my family lives away from both sets of grandparents, we had to get super-organized. We hired quality support staff, but the core team remained my husband and me. We are comfortable with our priorities and stand by them. We disconnect from work when we must – spending the right amount of time in the right bucket is critical to the success of our work-life balance.

Every weekend, I treat myself by indulging in what I love. I find horse-riding therapeutic, and so do my kids. On Mondays, I come back to my office relaxed and rejuvenated. A happy and motivated employee is an asset to the company. And Solera deeply understands that.
