Molly Bonnell: Can the Aesthetics of Care Act as a Tool to Reconsider Medical Routines in Isolation?

Today I am so proud of my niece, Molly Bonnell, for her project that was recently featured on Elle UK. I wanted to share her project here. Congrats, Molly!

Molly is a designer interested in understanding the relationship between the human body and the system that maintains the human body. For her graduation project (The Ritual of Prescription) at Central Saint Martins, she explored the relationship between the human body and medicine. She explored this question: Can the aesthetics of care act as a tool to reconsider medical routines in isolation?

Having dealt with Cystic Fibrosis her entire life, Molly had to confront her medical vulnerability as Covid-19 worsened throughout this year. As a contemplation on the nature of medicine and healthcare ritual, she created objects (from ingredients like sugar) that would partake in her original exploration of healthcare rituals.
