Molded from Clay

Molded from Clay

I just read an interesting article from Angerette (Angie) McDonald titled "The Process of Servitude". And it hit me - I mean REALLY hit me, that a process of growth is just like a process of art. Take for instance the process of a potter or a sculptor. In order to bring out the desired piece of art, they must slowly scrape or chip away at the unwanted clay, stone, marble or whatever the medium they are using. It's not until they go thru the scrapes and bites of skin, that they are ready to unveil the piece they have so tediously been working on (think, Michelangelo and his sculpture of David) . And even when that piece is finally revealed do they realize that it isn't perfect and something else could be scraped or chipped away.

That is the way of life. We so often wonder "why we are in the circumstance we are currently in". Some of us even look to the heavens and ask why God would do this to us. God doesn't do anything to us that we do not "put ourselves in". Sometimes, this is a very difficult deduction to reach. But once we do, then the "pruning" can begin - the scraping and the chipping away. Instead of saying "WHY"? Meet your circumstance, whatever it may be, HEAD ON! Do Not ALLOW your circumstance or other people to take your control away from you! Hang On!

Take a step back and regroup. As much as it may hurt the ol' ego, take an honest look at yourself. Regardless of your age, decide what would be your next best step. THEN ACT! Don't sit on your hands thinking the "what ifs". Act on that first impulse because it is most likely the correct answer for you. If you are a brother or sister in Christ, PRAY about it. Ask our Father to impress upon you what your next action should be.

We are all made of clay. Scraping and Chipping away is simply the way of life - the way to improve the gifts we have OR to discover gifts yet not recognized. So when the time comes for pruning, scrapping or chipping away, do not curse it nor be discouraged. You are about to go on a wild adventure! Yes, you may stumble or fall, but you’ll get up and continue to persevere.

My best advice is to “embrace” the time of pruning, scraping and chipping away. You WILL GO FORWARD! …and YOU WILL SUCCEED!!!!

This is POWERFUL!!!! Very nice read. I totally agree with this. Something I have been living by for the past 2 years is practicing accountability. Blaming others for your circumstances doesn't help you. You're only giving them the power to fix your circumstances. But when you finally look at your life and realize that you DO HAVE A CHOICE to be better and not feel guilty for making that choice (like I used to do), things get soooooo much better. Loved what you wrote. Great job
