Mojave National Preserve
I know, Death Valley has an undeniable charm and collective imagination, is the archetype of some type of US-style desert an extreme wasteland to explore and in which get lost and then go in search of ourselves . In countless stars and stripes movie productions the american desert he has become the protagonist in all its wild beauty, but today I won’t talk about Death Valley, but the real heart of the Mojave Desert that is the Mojave National Preserve. Its access points are different, the most common that I suggest, are going from Barstow on Interstate 15 or from Ludlow on Interstate 40. If you choose the last option, you can, come from Ludlow and staying on the 40, continue and then turn on Kelbaker Road, stopping along the way to explore by foot the dunes of Kelso, or always on 40, take the Essex Road, then the Black Canyon Road and Cima Road, through Hole in the wall. However I am not to list a detailed map of the most picturesque locations and you know why? Because this park is a really tough park and pure, just beat, where you can really lose yourself and then find yourself. Some routes are open only to four-wheel drive vehicles, but the majority are accessible by car. You will not find so many people, as you will not find many visitors centers and gas stations, so if you go during the summer, fill up the car tank and equip yourself with some gallon of water and above all, strictly follow the instructions of rangers and maps. This desert is really wild and huge and therefore any imprudence, however small, it can cost you a lot. Stop off at Kelso Depot Visitor Center for information and historiography, it was one of the train station and sunset view it’s really impressive. If I should had to choose between The Mojave National Preserve and Death Valley, definitely I will go for the Mojave, try it and it will remain in your hearts for its views, its isolated and roads, its vastness and its rawness. Wonderful !!!
