Modernisation of Greenore Port

The ByrneLooby Marine Division is proud to be providing Doyle Shipping Group and Greenore Port with Specialist Marine Engineering services for its largest construction improvement programme since the port opened 1873. Greenore Port is Ireland's only privately-owned commercial port and the only deep-water port on the Irish East coast outside of Dublin Port. COVID-19 has introduced unique challenges in maintaining Greenore Port’s operations, which are of critical national importance through its support of the agricultural, industrial and construction sectors in Ireland.

The ByrneLooby Marine Division gained planning and foreshore consents and are now providing technical engineering support to Greenore Port for Berth No. 2 redevelopment. The redevelopment consists of construction of 140m of new quay wall located 5m in front of the existing masonry quay wall including pavement and ancillary services, installation of a new mooring buoy and dredging of a 130m x 40m berthing pocket to -7.5m CD.

ASHLEIGH undertook a rock dredge at Greenore in 2015 deepening both berths and removing high spots whilst they were actively in use. Operations ran 24/7 on order to complete on programme and to fit round the ports busy berthing schedule. Great wee marine project for all involved
