Modern Poems, Volume 5
The music played, bringing back memories of your near-recent past; from about a decade ago.
What made this listening so vibrant for you is that the music reminded you to smile, thinking back about those days of yore, when we all were younger, dumber, naive as know-it-all newbies, impulsive and certainly more daring.
The music baths, cleanses, purifies your soul, freeing you up again to think, "What if?" which is your absolutely favorite thought, especially at the end of the week; when too often you can find yourself exhausted from the week's events.
Where would you be without music? Where would the world be?
It's bad enough, how cold, violent and sinister it can be, especially the higher up you go up the corporate ladder. With a smile...
How many times along the way, mid-stream up the ladder climb, have you glanced down, then looked up, then faced the next rung, reaching up, hating it for needing it to support you, when you'd like nothing more than to just let go and imagine yourself falling down onto one of those special big air cushions, marked with an X, which they use for stuntmen who jump off buildings.
But there's no air cushion below you. All you've got is a song in your head, as a buddy to help you maintain your climb up. And you smile, 'cause it's all you need.
