Modern Leadership Is Inclusive, Progressive & Pre-emptive

The next generation of leadership is shaped by empathy, diversity and inclusion. As a TIME Next Generation Leader, and The CEO Magazine Global Startup Executive of the Year, I feel strongly about pushing the boundaries forward by being progressive and preemptive about inclusion. As a business leader (and one in the public eye for social impact), it is my highest priority.
Privilege and corporate hierarchy can lead us to believe intersectionality is a “theory” for others to solve - or for an HR department to create some documents about; that advancement of equality in the human race in the workplace at scale shall be up to someone with a degree or "Human Resources" or "ESG" title.
Meaning, if we turn our back and focus on our own silos of a business (eg IT, admin or finance) - the injustices, and oppression suffered by many simply will not become our own problem as we assume it is delegated elsewhere. That our supply chains should simply and "probably" will be audited by someone else as an example, or that our in-house computer systems biases will be "magically solved" by someone in the IT department.?
But this is not the case.
We must always remember to appeal to our?humanity , at all levels of leadership. We know that personal freedom is directly linked to a greater sense of social economy and our right to feel valued in the world. We are all accountable for enabling dignity for each other in the workplace.
It doesn’t have to be a giant leap of courage, but I ask you to move forward with empathy and compassion for others in your everyday lives and role model this in your leadership. Please take small steps towards the betterment of others, one small gesture a week by many, has the momentum to change entire communities.?
It costs us nothing to lead with compassion and stand up for others in the workplace; but the rewards are infinite.
I use every opportunity to role-model the responsibility leaders must take now to ensure all team members feel valued and have a sense of social economy within the workplace. Do you?
