Woke up this morning, still under the impression of Leo post. Well... I have asked myself, what has really changed? Where is a difference which Leo was trying to show? First thought I had was ... well, hmmm... we have built the new generation of the public cloud (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) which is powerful and modern! And that is really true, but in fact, Leo is writing about something else. I think he has touched the fundamental question. The question is how our company will be perceived by the market, especially by the new generation of developers. Now, with this new cloud offering, we are showing that we are not only modern, but we are also cool! And here is a thing... what does it mean "cool"? First, we need to understand this term, right? Let's keep it simple, ok? In my honest opinion, the term "cool" is a key to understand Millennials generation. This generation is very open-minded, with the straightforward approach to life, maybe a little bit wild and rebellious, but when going deeper, we can see a lot of passion there in Millennials mindset. This new generation of developers have stepped in and now our market is full of the tech geeks, who understand technology in terms awesomeness and coolness. Something is great and awesome or something is not. Simple dichotomy. To make it clear I am not arguing with that approach. I have full respect to it, but for me, old-school guy, what is hard to admit, it is a little bit different. I already know that life and world are more complicated, sometimes too much. For me, 42 years old IT veteran, it is really hard to reduce tech stuff to this simple division - "cool" versus "not-cool". But I need to face the simple fact. Millennials will be building our society. Sooner or later. And I need to find the way to attract them. If not I will be like dinosaurs. I will extinct :-) So what to do now? I need to evolve and build communities! I need to educate people, including Millennials generation. Honestly showing them all what Oracle have in OCI. This great cloud portfolio which is evolving and growing so quickly! Something really great and awesome! With this stuff, I can build this new digital world together with the others. This is my big hope for the future.
Luke.
