MODERN BALLISTIC TARGETING SOFTWARE

Response to Mr. Richmond's comment (redacted):

Here’s the history of software… Beginning in the mid 1950’s, Robert McCoy authored the first ballistic equations. However, in the early 1960’s he contracted cancer. It was then they he decided to put the equations into book form. He then began writing them down in long hand. However, he was ill, many of the equations were incomplete and he did not finish his book. He suffered and then passed away. Soon afterwards his colleagues, in “pseudonym,” then decided to assemble the book for him, which was titled, “Modern Exterior Ballistics.” However, they did so with some of the equations being incomplete.

Later, in the early 1970’s, Bob McDonald utilized Rob McCoy’s equations, from his book, Modern Exterior Ballistics to author ballistic software. This is before “platters,” when rooms were populated with main frames. The software was considered a breakthrough. Unfortunately, during the Vietnam era, the software stopped progressing and it basically came to a full stop. It did not mature.

The software that you are utilizing, that you obtained for free, utilizes the original equations derived from Robert McCoys book, “Modern Exterior Ballistics.” It is over Sixty (60) Years Old.

Fast forward to 911, and a certain Astrophysicist by the name of Dr. Lyman Hazelton, who is a dual MIT PhD holder, one in Astrophysics and the other in Advanced Computer Sciences, who was also a research professor at MIT, becomes angry from the twin towers attack and authored his own ballistic targeting software packages; AIM-E for the military and X-Ring for the civilians.

The software is exceptionally advanced, in fact, your free software cannot compare to it. However, by your earlier comments, I assume that you would pull every hyperbole from deep within the recesses of your brain, to argue.

Long distance shooting is different to some people. For instance, Dr. Hazelton was Chief Scientist at an aerospace firm, and part of the team that launched a spacecraft to Mercury. The straight line distance to Mercury is 93 million miles. However, the launch actually took over 3 Billion miles, launching around the moon for the gravitational push, then weaving its way through the moving planets and their magnetic and gravitational fields, sped up as it orbited the sun and then had to slow down to land on the moving target, “Mercury.” The time of flight was Six Years, and the team missed the “X” by 1/2 mile.

The software utilized to successfully land the spacecraft on Mercury is the core of AIM-E and X-Ring.

Now Bryan Richmond, there’s more…  In my opinion, The software, “Applied Ballistics” is derived specifically from Robert McCoy’s re-write. It will never / never produce correct windage data, and it will begin to fail at 833 meters; completely blowing up by 1150 meters.

In addition, if you utilize the corioliss routine, it will produce random errors 100% of the time. The reason is due to a long Mantissa Digit string. Do you know what Mantissa Digits are? Mantissa Digits are the numerals to the right of the decimal point of a logarithmic equation. Only a floating point processor can process the information. However, your phone, or Kestrel weather station utilizes a fixed point processor. For this reason, the fixed point processor jams up and fails, thus producing random errors 100% / 100% of the time.

Any questions?

Crazy... If software is solid, you wouldn't have to fudge it to get it to work and it wouldn't blowup downrange.
