Modeling with Mathematics
Brian Winkel
Director of SIMIODE- Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations
We introduce you to an exciting project: SIMIODE - Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations. All is FREE in SIMIODE.
SIMIODE is about teaching differential equations (high school and college level) using modeling and technology upfront and throughout the learning process. Learn more at our dynamic website, where we offer a community in which colleagues can communicate, collaborate, publish, teach, explore, contribute, etc.
We conduct a SIMIODE Challenge Using Differential Equations Modeling (SCUDEM IV 2019) each year for undergraduate and high school teams of three students. If you are at a school then we would welcome your school as a host site for Challenge Saturday 9 November 2019. See details here, especially the convincing student videos. SCUDEM is FREE for schools in developing countries around the world.
We are building a complete environment for teachers and learners – communication, groups across and intra/inter campus projects for students and teachers, models, data, and videos. Once inside SIMIODE you can see all the material and resources we offer for teachers and students. We have groups for teachers and students.
On 15 March 2018 SIMIODE was awarded a three year grant from the United States National Science Foundation for SIMIODE's work in supporting the use of modeling to motivate the learning of differential equations. Come see why the NSF believes in what we are doing. Join SIMIODE! It is FREE! Direct questions to Director.
