Modeling Mass and Heat Dissipation of Leaked Natural Gas on Platform

This project was performed on one of Gas/Condensate decks in Persian Gulf. The gas dispersion from an assumed leakage was simulated using FDS/Pyrosim CFD package. FDS is one the most suitable and verified CFD packages for modeling Smoke/Gas dispersion in the world. Its main application is simulating of fire and smoke development in closed area of car parking, houses, cinema, markets, etc... However, because of specific formulation and implemented equations for gas/species transport and also well-done formulation of advanced LES turbulent model , it has been used frequently by Oil/Gas platform designers and contractors for modeling leaked gas dispersion.?In this project, Flammable Gas Detectors were evaluated precisely for stagnation condition and three wind velocities. Platform 3D Model was regenerated in Spaceclaim to prepare suitable 3D model required for CFD Simulations. Powerful Post-Processing tools of Smoke-View was used to visualize and animate high quality results.
