The Power of Biblical Values

Leadership transcends the boundaries of the workplace and home, influencing every aspect of our lives. By consistently embodying kingdom values, we mirror the character of Jesus Christ, setting a powerful example for others to follow.

As Peter Drucker famously stated, "Culture eats strategy for breakfast." Churches, like any organization, don't possess inherent values – they reflect the collective values of their members. When consciously chosen and actively lived out, personal values shape the church's culture.? Consider the fundamental importance of integrity: choosing honesty over deception is a value, not merely a preference.

Our actions and attitudes are consequential; they either advance God's kingdom or create unnecessary obstacles. We initiate a ripple effect that extends far beyond ourselves by upholding kingdom values. We become leaders by example, guiding others toward spiritual growth and fostering a culture of shared, Christ-centered values.

A Framework for Leadership Development

Scholar and researcher, Van Velsor offers a simple framework for leadership development:?assessment, challenge, and support.?This framework provides a roadmap for aligning our values with the kingdom mandate for the church.

Consider these values, which align perfectly with this framework:

Unwavering integrity: This value reflects a commitment to ethical conduct and moral behavior, which are crucial for assessment and decision-making. Faithful stewardship:?This value promotes efficient use of resources, including time and talents, essential for challenging ourselves and others to achieve God's purposes.

Compassionate service:?This value fosters a loving environment, providing crucial support for personal and spiritual growth within the church community.

These values form a solid basis for Jesus-centered leadership when embraced and put into practice. The Holy Spirit directs us to make righteous decisions, challenges impure intentions, and provides support for everyone to thrive in their spiritual journey.

Scriptural Inspiration Proverbs 21:3?reminds us, "To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice." This verse underscores the importance of integrity and ethical conduct as fundamental to leadership.

Ephesians 5:15-16?encourages us to "be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil." This passage encourages us to prioritize wisely and to make the most of every moment, a powerful reminder of our responsibility to steward our time effectively.

A Call to Action

Leadership isn't merely a title or position but a way of life reflecting Christ's example. By consciously choosing kingdom values and consistently demonstrating them, we inspire trust, create kingdom culture, and become the leaders our church and community need.

Let us strive to be leaders who inspire, empower, and guide others toward a deeper relationship with Christ, starting with our values and actions. Reflect on three non-negotiable kingdom values that align with your calling and begin to live them out intentionally in your daily life and ministry.

Remember,?as you cultivate these values, you're not just shaping your character – you're influencing the culture of your church and community, pointing others to the transformative power of Christ's love and leadership.
