Model site conditions, analyze proposals and use data for decision making with Forma
Autodesk Forma is finally here. Forma is the next evolution of Spacemaker.
Forma’s initial capabilities target the early-stage planning and design process with automations and AI-powered insights that simplify exploration of design concepts, offload repetitive tasks, and help evaluate environmental qualities surrounding a building site, giving architects time to focus on creative solutions.
Forma will help users to rapidly evaluate dozens of design options and improve upon the desired qualities of a design. Productivity gains will be realized from quick project setup; users can unlock advanced capabilities without requiring deep technical expertise; and data can be used to tell a convincing story about the design vision to secure buy-in and bring stakeholders along.
The aim of this new industry cloud is to achieve outcome-based design. For this, data-driven insights are necessary even from the early stages of a project. This information will help teams design and create spaces that work for everyone.
·??????Use data to inform everyday decisions
·??????Model Site conditions in minutes
·??????Work together in the cloud
·??????Design with sustainability in mind
Included in Autodesk Forma’s initial capabilities:
·??????Contextual modeling radically simplifies the process to start a new building information modeling (BIM) project. Users can now set up a 3D model of the entire project area within minutes, inputting their own data or buying data sets for selected geographies, all seamlessly within Forma.
·??????Conceptual design capabilities offer freeform building design tools for users to creatively express their design intents and create complex designs in full 3D in just minutes.
·??????Automation radically speeds up early exploration of design concepts. With simple yet powerful parametric tools, users can quickly develop many design concepts and variations to ensure the full solution space is explored, giving users time back to focus on their creativity.
·??????Machine learning performs real-time analyses across key density and environmental qualities such as sunlight, daylight, wind, and microclimate, without users requiring deep technical expertise. Now, environmental analyses can be completed from day one of the design process to meet sustainability requirements and targets.

·??????Revit add-in provides a file-less sync between Forma and Revit, allowing users to detail their Forma data in Revit and bring it back to Forma for analysis.
Sun hours Analysis.
This analysis calculates how many hours of sunlight the site will get on specific dates.
To run the analysis, you need to select one or more site limits or zones. This defines the area for where the sun analysis is computed. You might be interested in running the analysis for the project site area or define a larger zone to see the impact on the neighboring buildings.
If you have multiple proposals, you can directly compare analysis results between the different design options.
You can also specify other relevant data like area use: Commercial, Residential, Parking, etc. Surrounding Roads, Buildings, Trees spacing and height.
Forma is available standalone and it's also included in the AEC Collection.

1 年Agree with Ahmad Alomran Would love to see more use cases for Civil infrastructure. Infraworks is a good example but it would have been great to see the same possibilities of get insights regarding CO2 and cost analysis

1 年A really useful tool indeed. I'm testing it on some projects and the insight it provides at this stage is effortless. I'm sure it will develop to become an integral part of the design process in the future.
