U.S. Virgin Islands – Mar. 26/24 - VIports Selected by the U.S. Virgin Islands Port Authority to Redevelop Cyril E. King Airport and Henry E. Rohlsen Airport
VIports Partners (“VIports”), an Aecon-led consortium, has been selected by the U.S. Virgin Islands Port Authority (“VIPA”) to redevelop the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas and the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in St. Croix under a collaborative Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Maintain (“DBFOM”) Public-Private Partnership model. VIports is comprised of Aecon, Tikehau Star Infra, Consigli Benton Joint Venture (J. Benton Construction) and Avports.
Brazil – Mar. 21/24 - TCU Approved the Discussion of An Agreement Between the Federal Government and the Concessionaire Aeroportos Brasil
Media reported that the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) approved the discussion of an agreement between the Federal Government and the concessionaire Aeroportos Brasil, to try to end the re-bidding process and, thus, keep the current manager in charge of the asset. Following the TCU's decision once again in favor of ending the re-tender, Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos informed that it expects "by the end of the year", a restructuring of the contract.
United Kingdom – Mar. 21/24 - Lease to Takeover Former Doncaster Sheffield Airport Signed
Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones announced that a lease to take over the former Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA) has been signed. The lease signing forms part of the South Yorkshire Airport City programme which City of Doncaster Council put in place dedicated to working towards reopening the airport. The programme covers all the technical, legal, procurement and financial work necessary to progress securing the site and preparing essential requirements ahead of a partnership with an operator.
Angola - Mar. 14/24 - International Companies have Acquired Specifications of Public Tender for Concession/Management of António Agostinho Neto International Airport
Media reported that four international companies with recognized technical and financial capacity and specialists in the management of airport infrastructures had acquired the specifications of the public tender for the concession of the management of the new António Agostinho Neto International Airport.These companies, of European and American origin, also carried out technical visits to the new airport to learn on site the capabilities and potential of all the infrastructure available and ready to operate.
