Brazil - Mar. 28/23 - AENA Signs Concession for 7th Round the Sao Paulo – Mato Grosso do Sul – Pará – Minas Gerais Block

Spanish operator AENA has signed the concession contract with ANAC for the Sao Paulo – Mato Grosso do Sul – Pará – Minas Gerais Block, awarded to AENA through the 7th round auction. Upon AENA making the grant payments committed under the bid, ANAC is expected to declare the effectiveness of the contract and start the airport management transition process. The transfer will have several stages, including presentation of operational plans, people training and communication with the airport community, etc. and must be completed within 40 days after the start of the process, followed by an equal period for ANAC to analyze the deliverables.

Indonesia - Mar. 21/23 - Singkawang Airport PPP Process Being Readied for Launch by Ministry of Transportation

The Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation announced construction of Phase 1 of Singkawang Airport project is slated for completion by the end of 2023 and will be operational in the first quarter of 2024. The PPP process is being finalized, including a business review, assisted by Ministry of Finance appointed advisor PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia. Pre-qualification will be carried out between Jun. and Oct. 2023, followed by an auction process running from Dec. 2023 to Apr. 2024.

Bangladesh - Mar. 17/23 - Japanese Consortium Members for the Hazrat Shahjahal (Dhaka) 3rd Terminal Identified

In Q4 2022, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) invited the Japanese gov’t to conduct a financial assessment of a revenue sharing proposal between the parties to confirm viability of third-party operation of the Hazrat Shahjahal (Dhaka) third terminal under a PPP framework. In mid-Mar. it was reveal that the proposed Japanese consortium for the venture includes Japan Airport Terminal Company, Sumitomo Corporation, Sojitz, Narita Int’l Airport Corp., Sojitz Corp. General Trading Company and Jalux Inc.

Bermuda - Mar. 15/23 - Aecon Strikes Deal to Sell a Minority Stake in L.F. Wade Airport Concession to Canadian Infra Investor

On Mar. 15 Canada’s Aecon Group Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement with fellow Canadian firm Connor, Clark & Lunn Infrastructure to sell a 49.9% minority interest in the L.F. Wade Int’l Airport concession company Bermuda Skyport Corporation Limited (Skyport) for USD128.5m. Aecon Concessions will retain the management contract for the airport and remain the controlling shareholder of Skyport, retaining a 50.1% interest in the concession. Subject to usual conditions, the deal is expected to close in Q2 2023.

Bahamas - Mar. 02/23 - Gov’t Launches Call to Attract Investor/Operator for the Family Island Airports

A Project Information Memorandum (PIM) was publicly released by the Gov’t of the Bahamas to solicit interested private sector bidders for investment, development and operation of the Family Island airports. Besides repaying private investors for financing the Family Island airport upgrades, passenger facility fees starting at B$15 and scaling up to B$43 per trip will be established cover operational and ongoing maintenance costs. The most significant in the group of 14 airports, traffic-wise, includes Exuma, Marsh Harbour, North Eleuthera, Rock Sound, Governor’s Harbour, Long Island, San Salvador and Cat Island - New Bight.
