Rwanda - Aug. 22/22 - Gov’t & Qatar Airways Seal Deal for Bugesera Airport

The Rwandan gov’t and Qatar Airways signed three agreements to formalize a joint venture to build and operate the proposed greenfield int’l airport in Bugesera District, including a guarantee of indemnity, purchase agreement and shareholders’ agreement by which the Rwandan gov’t will hold a 40% share in the airport, while Qatar Airways will hold the remaining 60% stake. The new airport is designed for up to 7m passengers/year with a capital cost of USD1.3b for the two phases.

Brazil - Aug. 18/22 - AENA Snatches the Big Prize in the 7th Round

Spain’s AENA emerged the victor for the biggest prize in the 7th Round auction of Brazil airport concessions, placing the highest bid for the operation of 11 airports, including S?o Paulo - Congonhas. The fee for the 30-year (+5) concession was BRL2,450b. AENA will also pay a variable fee consisting of a percentage of gross revenue, which will increase from 3.23% to 16.15% per year over the term.

Brazil - Aug. 18/22 - Socicam & Egis Add to Airport Networks with Wins in the 7th Round

XP Investimentos, teaming up with Egis Airport Operation, won the concession for Campo de Marte and Jacarepaguá airport concessions with a BRL141m bid, close to the minimum value stated in the public notice. The Novo Norte Consortium, formed by Socicam and Dix Empreendimentos, won the Norte II block, adding Belém and Macapá to Socicam’s airport portfolio, offering BRL125m, a premium of 119.78% versus a BRL56.8m minimum.

United Kingdom - Aug. 09/22 - Ferrovial Considers Future of is London-Heathrow Stake

Ferrovial is reportedly assessing options for disposition of its 25% stake in London Heathrow Airport (LHR). The early-stage discussions come amid interest in Ferrovial’s LHR stake from private equity firm Ardian, which has held talks with its own advisors on a possible joint proposal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

Mexico - Aug. 01/22 - VINCI Signs Deal to Acquire a Minority Stake in Mexican Operator OMA

VINCI Airports announced that it reached a deal with Fintech Advisory to purchase a 29.99% stake in Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA). In a statement, OMA said it received a letter advising ‘that certain affiliates of Fintech have entered into a share purchase agreement with a subsidiary of VINCI Airports to indirectly sell the Fintech capital stock in OMA. The deal, which includes debt and is valued at around USD815m, is currently pending regulatory approval.
