MODA a/w17 Review
We’ve recently driven back down the M40 from MODA in Birmingham and we’ve come away with further optimism for 2017. Whilst the overall style trends weren’t anything to shout too loudly about, there was a noticeable move towards detail, refinement and overall quality. This can only augur well for UK fashion.
Speaking to one long-established menswear retailer, the demand for well-tailored UK clothing was all too clear. It’s not just UK buyers either - we came across a number of international buyers particularly from the Far East and Australasia who were there to choose quintessentially British (and European) fashion manufactured to a high spec. On that count, MODA scored highly.
Just like in previous years, we noticed that whilst MODA’s footfall isn’t anywhere near as big as Pure London’s, the volume of orders being written was higher. It wasn’t just the size of orders either - many brands we talked to were also pleased with the number of new accounts being generated. One brand we spoke to said that orders at MODA were double that of Pure.
