MOBY provides bikes & e-bikes for European Parliament bike scheme in Strasbourg.

The contract was awarded to the Dublin company in December after a competitive public tender and the bike scheme was successfully launched recently in the European Parliament building in Strasbourg.

MOBY Bikes, announces delivery of bikes for the bike scheme of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, following a successful bid in a competitive public tender to supply and locally maintain the staff bike scheme at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The bike scheme, encompassing a large fleet of pedal and electric assist bikes, aims to facilitate MEPs and staff working at the European Parliament to travel by bike, with the aspiration of increasing cycling participation and number of kilometres cycled to and from the European Parliament each day.

The initiative aligns with the recent adoption of a European declaration on cycling inspired by last year’s European Parliament’s resolution on EU cycling strategy.?The declaration marks a significant stride towards promoting cycling growth across various sectors, industries, and infrastructures. Acknowledging cycling as a sustainable, accessible, inclusive, affordable, and healthy mode of transport, the declaration underscores cycling's pivotal role in generating substantial benefits for Europe.

Among the declaration's key principles are the increase of investments and the creation of favourable conditions for cycling, as well as supporting green jobs and fostering the development of a world-class European cycling industry. The European Parliament exemplifies policy in action, showcasing the growing demand for and recognition of the value of investing in active travel options within the workplace by large organizations and corporate entities.

The announcement comes at a time when MOBY continues its growth into European markets and focuses on b2b segments, after having established and successfully developed its European operations from Dublin, now with hubs in Utrecht and Strasbourg. Strengthening its presence in the European mobility ecosystem, MOBY was recognised last year with a nomination in the European Startup Prize for Mobility (EUSP).
