Mobilizing Our Resources to Assist in Puerto Rico
The past weeks have been extremely difficult as multiple hurricanes hit the Caribbean, Texas, Florida, and other areas of the U.S. mainland.
The latest event, Hurricane Maria, was devastating and will require extraordinary amounts of time, money and resources to restore and rebuild. There’s also a human and emotional toll – which can’t be measured, but only understood and addressed with the utmost care.
We have staff in Puerto Rico, and we have many customers there, as well. Confirming their safety and well-being has been our top priority, and our focus is on colleagues, customers and their families who will need care and assistance in the coming days, weeks and beyond. We will see this through with them, along with great resolve and resources.
Over the last several days, we mobilized resources to help address needs in a variety of ways. Our Customer Disaster Response Team and our Enterprise Crisis Team, in cooperation with partners inside and outside the company, are securing water, food, alternate power and other resources needed now and in the time ahead.
Natural disasters have hit hard, and the aftermath is difficult for the people and families who call these areas home. I want to assure our employees, credit union customers and partners that we will bring the utmost focus and care to continue helping in any way possible.
