Mobility and Device Security

Cyber criminals are increasingly targeting mobile devices and apps. These attacks are reeking havoc for businesses across the globe. In 2017 Check Point published a report stating that 20% of companies believe that their company has already experienced a mobile security breach. Shockingly 24% answered that they did not know, it’s frightening to imagine being the victim of a cyber-attack, and not even knowing you were.

The only way to ensure that businesses know is to raise awareness about the cyber threats which exist, from Phishing to Man in the Middle Attacks. To a lot of people these may just be terms they’ve over heard but may not fully understand, so in order for prevention, awareness is key.

Companies need to think about things like, how do they secure communications on mobile devices? Should they maybe consider disabling Bluetooth pairing? While also disabling access to websites with invalid SSL/TLS certificates. Connecting your mobile devices to any WIFI network is a huge risk to the device and the data stored on that device. So, locking down or disabling this function will help to eliminate the risk of a cyber attack.

Corporate Data such as customer details could be stored on these devices, so losing these devices could be a huge risk to both your business and your customers. Lost or Stolen devices are one of the greatest risks to companies when it comes to cyber attacks. A recent report by trend micro found that more than 41% of all data breaches were the result of lost or stolen mobile devices. Companies really need to consider how to secure information on all devices, and how to wipe devices if they are misplaced or stolen.

In 2018 a survey from Gartner, Inc found that Despite 95 percent of CIOs expecting cyberthreats to increase over the next three years, only 65 percent of their organizations currently have a cybersecurity expert. These threats do exist, but in order to prevent them we first need to raise awareness of what exactly they are, and then find a source to eliminate any risk of these attacks.

VisionID are now partnering with leaders in mobile device security such as Zimperium, Check Point, Mobile Iron and SOTI. Each day we are growing more and more aware of the large number of cyber attacks which are taking place. At VisionID we want to eliminate this threat for our existing and potential customers. We also want to educate our customers about these threats.

We recently hosted a webinar with our partners from Zimperium, Google and SOTI, who discussed Mobile Threat Detection as well as the benefits of a complete end to end mobile managed service.

If you missed the webinar, but would like to learn more about mobile threat detection, the link is now available to download the entire video.
