"Mobility for All" Initiative: serving those that need mobility options the most
As discussed in the article linked below, "Seniors and people living with a disability who need accessible transportation across the Portland region have dealt with a patchwork of inadequate services for years." The Mobility for All Initiative, looks at how to create a "one-call, one-click regional transportation information system" to better support those who need mobility options the most. Thanks to Catie Gould and Emily Guise for contributing this article to BikeOregon.org on this important topic and initiative. And thanks to Kevin Chambers, the Project Manager for inviting me to participate on this panel.
As also stated in the article, "Consultants Laura Keyes and Marion Denny presented their findings on implementing a One-Click One-Call system to a room full of volunteers, disability advocates, and policy makers at workshop in June." Hard to believe that was June, feels like just the other day.
I wanted to highlight this article to spread the word and hopefully get some political support to keep this initiative moving forward. Its really critical that we bring first class, mobility options to all of our citizens, especially those who have been underrepresented for far too long.
