Mobile & Wireless Roundup #56
Welcome to the 56th edition of this newsletter. Summer is transitioning to autumnal weather in the northern hemisphere. In UK we had results for many crucial exams in the last couple of weeks. While many students have been enjoying the success they deserved, others are getting to grips with unfortunately disappointing results.
In many western countries there is so much shortage of the right talent with excellent computer skills that even the larger companies, known for their traditional hiring practices, are relaxing the requirements for bachelors/masters in a particular domain. If you are willing to learn and work hard, there is always something for you.
I also heard a small piece on the radio about how scientists think that you can trick/hack your brain into happiness by feeling positive and celebrating small wins. I remember watching something along these lines many years ago where it was said that we can plant false memories in our head as children and younger people. Most of the time these memories are scary ones but we can also plant happy memories that can give us lifelong happiness.
So it doesn’t matter if you are not climbing a mountain or able to solve Rubik’s cube in ten seconds or able to run marathons, If you are happy with your small achievements like solving Wordle, Octordle or Sudoku, you are already on a good path.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am a technologist with over 24 years’ experience in mobile wireless technology, currently working as an independent advisor, analyst, consultant and a trainer. This newsletter is a summary of my posts and others news that caught my attention since the last newsletter.

? Picture of the week: Lightning protection is another very important but overlooked area. Most towers and antenna sites are equipped with some or other lightning protection mechanism to ensure that if a lightning strikes, it does not damage the expensive electronic equipment and the extra charge is safely dissipated to the ground. The following picture is shared by @denpa893 on X (formerly Twitter) showing how a lightning rod is protecting a Yagi antenna.
