Mobile Infographic = Gifographic

In a mobile digital world, is animated better? That is the question.
In this day in age, visuals are what makes social media shares. Infographics do well on twitter and Pinterest, but it’s Gifographics that have new shinning potential!
A GIF-image infographic is simply a more mixed-media and interactive version of an infographic. As mobile apps proliferate for photo editing, in the 2nd half of 2015 and in 2016, expect to see smarter content that is visual and interactive. I’ve been seeing some creative use of short-clip video on Instagram of late. But what the heck is a Gifographic and is it worth trying out?
While good ol’ GIFs have been around since 1987, animated infographics (giographics) took off and are starting to enter main-stream business now as savy marketers starting to realize their benefits outweight their drawbacks as compared with infographics.
Pros
- Save the viewer’s time, less text required
- More dynamic and lively, numbers & figures “pop”
- Brand impression is still “fierce”, since still somewhat avante-guard
- Are easier to create (than assumed)
- Considered of high-value to SEO
Cons
- Longer loading times
- Perceived as difficult to produce
- More costly to create content
- Harder SEO rules
Vision:
- Mix between interactive and static infographics
- Ideal for brand storytelling that is trending

- Gifographics (GGs) are reputed to get more social shares and likes. One wonders why this is, do they truly improve the mobile viewing experience? Is it because they are just less common?
Craze for Animations
Sometimes they remind me of really lame Keynote (Mac version of Powerpoint) animations, but sometimes they do add value when not overdone. What’s your verdict? So some of the picture moves, is that really "interactive"?
As always with all things visual, let’s consult our Pinterest search engine: Gifographics. My LinkedIn spell-check apparently does not know what a gifographic is, go figure. But now we know!
P.S. Pretty sure the google home page has mass conditioned us to think things that moving & animated text and infographics are neat.
