MNRE Grants Provisional ALMM Enlistment For 2,000 MW Of Additional Solar PV;GH2 Solar Pvt Ltd Wins Major SECI Tender for Green Hydrogen and More...

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has granted provisional enlistment to additional solar PV module models from two companies under its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-1. This decision is based on the MNRE’s order dated May 10, 2023.

GH2 Solar Pvt Ltd has secured a landmark 105 MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity tender from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), marking a significant advance in India’s green hydrogen sector. This achievement is supported by a substantial Rs. 157.5 Crore subsidy under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued new regulations called the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Deviation Settlement Mechanism and Related Matters) Regulations, 2024. These regulations, set to take effect from September 16, 2024, aim to maintain grid stability by ensuring that grid users adhere to their scheduled electricity drawal and injection.

The Maharashtra Commission has led the way in India by introducing innovative regulations focused on grid stability and efficiency. This move is part of a broader push to enhance environmentally friendly generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. Maharashtra was also a pioneer in setting renewable energy portfolio obligations and feed-in tariffs to boost renewable energy penetration. Recently, both the Central Ministry of Power and the state of Maharashtra have been working to increase renewable energy integration into the power grid, notably through the Panchamrit scheme. This initiative aims for 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and to have 50% of electricity consumption come from renewable sources by the same year.

Adani Enterprises, Waaree Group , Matrix Gas and Renewables Limited , Avaada, and Ohmium are among the winners of a major auction held by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to establish 1.5 GW of electrolyzer manufacturing capacity across India. This initiative is part of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Tranche II of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) program. The auction, which took place in March, was divided into three distinct categories.

Thank you for sharing these exciting updates on India’s green energy initiatives. The provisional ALMM enlistment and the SECI tender win for GH2 Solar are significant steps forward. With the new CERC regulations and Maharashtra's innovative approaches, how do you think these measures will impact the integration of renewable energy into the grid? What further actions are needed to enhance grid stability and support green hydrogen growth?
