1 个月I will continue to support the council, but as someone that has been engaged with Supplier Diversity initiatives for over 30 years and having served on the MMSDC Board numerous times (Corporate OEM, Tier I, MBE) while Chairing various committees, it disturbs me how Supplier Diversity has been somehow viewed as DEI. Supplier Diversity has been around since the late 1960’s, while “DEI” is relatively new and what I believed to be Human Resource related. In my opinion, we’ve allowed Supplier Diversity to be hijacked while affording others the opportunity to provide a misleading narrative of both. Lumping both together weakens Supplier Diversity due to the current political environment. While others may argue that Supplier Diversity and DEI are mutually exclusive, I remain steadfast in my belief that they are different, while also maintaining they are both important disciplines for ensuring everyone has a seat at the table.
