MLK: Don't Be Comfortable; Be Inspired

I planned to write something this morning about why I still dream. But I changed my mind. Instead I invite you to read one of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s lesser-known sermons, "Rediscovering Lost Values".
I'm inviting you to read it as he said it, not as we paraphrase it--citing only the seamless phrases and sterilizing it of its accessibility. Not as we are comfortable with it--focusing on the most digestible and universally agreeable words he spoke. Not as it is most useful to us--highlighting the parts that bolster our agendas and leaving the rest behind.
If you believe that we, as a human race, should recommit to our core values (even if your faith differs)...
If you think that hate--in any form--is wrong, and love is right, and we don't get to leverage the definitions according to some revised benchmark, or the context of the day...
If you know we have the collective power to bring Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream to fruition by simultaneously walking the higher ground of peace AND fighting the battles in the valley, where they are happening...
You will enjoy this read. Please share if you do.
Be Inspired!

10 年Bless you for sharing this. We need Dr. Kings words unadulterated , as they were inspired words, rather than commentaries about him.
