MLK 2022 - Uplifting Humanity

MLK 2022 - Uplifting Humanity

Dr. King has a legacy deeply rooted in justice, liberation and service to others. In his work, he placed a high value on unity, commitment and partnership. As I reflect on his legacy, I am reminded that his legacy is still alive through me and what I give to the world.?His values are not frozen in his lifetime, but they breathe new breath each day we remain committed to ensuring equitable opportunities where we live, work and play.?

Each day we are given, we make a choice in who we are becoming. Dr. King choose to challenge broken systems, mediocrity and oppression in the days he lived. During that time, he stood for excellence, education and the unrelenting hope that the power of love could conquer hate. With your days, choose to become someone who sees the value in others, who can identify challenges and who also works hard to find innovative solutions.

January 17 is a day of reflection and service to our communities across the Central Region. Find an opportunity to keep Dr. King’s legacy alive through serving and caring for someone else. While we celebrate Dr. King’s birthday and his profound work on fighting injustice next Monday, we should remain deeply committed to learning, evolving and growing into our best selves every day.?

I highly recommend listening to one of his speeches. They can be a bit slow, but you can appreciate his oratory skills and how he weaves his argument. I find them incredibly inspiring!
