MITHUN CHAKRABORTY SET TO RECEIVE THE PRESTIGIOUS DADASAHEB PHALKE AWARD 2024 : RECOGNITION ACKNOWLEDGES HIS IMMENSE CONTRIBUTION TO FILM INDUSTRY
After four decades of acting career, Legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty wins the Dadasaheb Phalke award. As a three-time National Award winner, Mithun's achievements in cinema have left a lasting impression, and this recognition further acknowledges his remarkable contributions to the industry.

Honored to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury has decided to award legendary actor, Sh. Mithun Chakraborty Ji for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. The award will be presented to the veteran actor at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8th, 2024," Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics, and IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw announced. .
Mithun made his acting debut in the year 1977 with the film Mrigayaa(by Mrinal Sen). He received the National Award for Best Actor for his very first film. Mithun’s journey in the filmdom has been inspirational. His hit films include Disco Dancer, Agneepath. Born in Kolkata. He has appeared in more than 350 films. These include Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi movies. He is not only an actor, but also a producer and a politician by profession.

Mithun Chakraborty born Gouranga Chakraborty was born on June 16, 1950. At the beginning of his career, he appeared in small roles. The film Suraksha (1979) and Prem Vivah helped him to gain gradual fame.
