MIT Sloan Students Visit Konnect Food+ to Learn About Social Commerce Platform for Underserved African Consumers

On March 21, 18 MBA students and two faculty members from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management visited Konnect Food+ during a recent study tour of the Sloan Women's Entrepreneurship in Africa program. The visit gave the students an opportunity to learn about Konnect Food+'s social commerce platform, which aims to make online shopping more accessible, affordable, and convenient for over 500 million underprivileged urban consumers in Africa.

During the discussion, Konnect Food+ executives highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in Africa as a collaborative effort among stakeholders and entrepreneurs to build a business ecosystem for the common good, rather than as a competition. They also emphasized the need to identify and understand problems before finding solutions. The MBA students expressed their enthusiasm for the company's commitment to providing quality commodities at competitive prices and timely delivery to its clients.

Guests from MIT also visited Konnect Food+'s warehouse, where they gained more insights into its streamlined operation flow, from order management to packaging and delivery. When leaving Githurai, they were greeted by the friendly smiles of Githurai kids.

Sloan Women's Entrepreneurship in Africa is an initiative launched by MIT Sloan School of Management in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. The program offers a range of activities and resources, including entrepreneurship training, mentorship, networking opportunities, seed funding, and research on women's entrepreneurship in Africa. The primary objective is to promote economic empowerment by supporting women's entrepreneurship and leadership skills in Africa.
