‘Mister Banker, what's the big deal?!'

Before giving birth to Qonto, we met 100+ entrepreneurs, startupers, or SME owners. Here are our 5 favorite quotes.

1/ The speechless founder: Jean-Baptiste Rudelle (Criteo founder)*

‘When I started Kiwee [his 1st company], I literally struggled to find a bank to just open an account and deposit the initial capital. Mister Banker, I don’t ask you for a loan, I just want to hand you my money. What’s the big deal about it?!’

2/ The bank advisor: a one-way love

‘What is supposed to be great with a traditional bank is to be able to go to a branch and meet your ‘dedicated advisor’ in person. But what’s the point if my advisor changes every three months?’

3/ The hidden fees: the uninvited guests

‘How much do I pay for my bank account every month? Honesty, I just don’t get it, should I count the hidden fees or not?’

4/ Paper and fax: (not) so vintage

'Finding a bank and opening my account took me five weeks in total. Why ask for paper documents, to be sent via Post? To crown it all, I got my online banking access fifteen days after I opened my account.’

5/ Payroll: rolling the pain

‘Here we go again! Every month, as I have ten employees and need to make thirty-two clicks per transfer, I waste so much time on processing payroll’

We won’t pretend to understand (actually we won’t even try to) ‘Mister Banker’ big deal towards small businesses.

Nevertheless, we are committed to address startups and SMEs banking painpoints.

*Ok. We did not actually meet Jean-Baptiste Rudelle in person. But we did read (several times) his manifesto They told me it was impossible. If Mister Rudelle is reading these words, we would be glad to meet! ??
