Mistakes web content managers make about heading tags that cost you money

I read a very engaging and informative content by my girlfriend the other day. It was for the website of the company she works for.

After it was published, she sent me the link to check it out. What I saw was totally different from what I had read and understood before.

The structure and flow were distorted making it hard for anyone to read and understand.

I understood what happened. The content manager had published her content with total disregard to heading tags and how to use them properly.

So I had to talk about the most common mistakes web content managers make about heading tags.

Some content managers, bloggers and web designers see heading tags as just h1.

In HTML, heading tags range from h1 to h6 with h1 appearing as the biggest and boldest while h6 appears as the least bold and smallest heading.

Now, these heading tags help in giving the web page general structure (for readers and search engine bots) and ease readability.

In a situation where your web designer or content manager confuses the heading tags, they don't only destroy the structure of the content but also make your readers unable to understand the content you put up.

Read on to learn the proper way to use heading tags on your web page

*h1s should only be used once on a web page. It is usually used to display the title of the content of the page.

*h2s, h3s and h4s are also important for subheadings, continue to learn how to use them effectively.

Remember, heading tags help with the general structure of your written content on the web page.

So, to structure your content well for easy understanding for your readers and search engine bots, you need to apply the heading tags properly.

h1 for the title of the content on the web page.

h2 for the main subheadings.

h3 for the subheadings under the main subheadings (h2).

h4 for the subheadings under the subheadings under the main subheadings (h3)

Let's practice that here:

Let's say we want to create a page or make a blog post about ankara shoes

"How to make ankara shoes: 5 simple diy tips" can be our topic and that's h1

we can have other subtopics like;

*how to make ankara shoes

*materials for making ankara shoes

*steps in making ankara shoes

*how to wear ankara shoes,

etc

Depending on how you want to structure your content, "how to make ankara shoes" and "how to rock ankara shoes" can be the main subheadings which make them h2s

"materials for making ankara shoes" and "steps in making ankara shoes" fall under "how to make ankara shoes" and those subheadings will have the h3 tags.

If you need to have some more subheadings under "steps in making ankara shoes" which is h3 already, those headings under it must carry the h4 tags.
