Are these mistakes holding your business back?

Are these mistakes holding your business back?

Every coach I’ve worked with started their business for the same reason... they wanted to make an impact while doing work they love.

But somewhere along the way, many hit a wall. They’re working hard, but the results just aren’t matching the effort.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone - and it's not about how hard you’re working but where you’re focusing your energy.

There are a few common mistakes I see coaches make that keep them stuck, even when they’re talented, experienced, and committed to their clients. Let’s talk about them, because recognizing these patterns is the first step to breaking through them.

Mistake 1: Trying to Speak to Everyone

It feels counterintuitive, doesn’t it? You think, If I make my messaging broad, I’ll attract more people. But when you try to appeal to everyone, you dilute your message. Instead of standing out, you blend in.

Clients need to feel like you understand their specific challenges and goals. If your message feels vague, they’ll scroll past - even if you’re the perfect person to help them.

The Fix: Get crystal clear on your Best-Fit Client. Who are they? What do they want? What’s stopping them from getting it? What are they experiencing on a daily basis because of this? When you understand them deeply, you can speak directly to them - and that’s when they start paying attention.

Mistake 2: Overcomplicating Your Offer

Many coaches fall into the trap of thinking their offer needs to be big, flashy, or packed with features to justify its value. But this often has the opposite effect. If your offer feels overwhelming or unclear, clients hesitate.

People don’t buy coaching; they buy results. They want to know:

  • What will I get out of this?
  • How will it help me solve my problem or reach my goal?
  • Can I trust this process to work for me?

The Fix: Simplify your offer. Focus on the outcome you deliver and how you get them there. When your offer is clear, specific and focused on what they want, it feels like an easy yes.

Mistake 3: Not Following Up With Past Prospects

This one is tricky because it’s often rooted in fear. Fear of being pushy, fear of rejection, fear of doing it wrong. The people you've spoken to in the past about potentially working together are actually the ones who are most likely to say yes if you reach back out to them with the right offer.

When someone says no, they aren't rejecting you. It might not have been the right time, or the right offer. In a sales conversation, no isn't no forever, it's just a no right now.

The Fix: Start reaching out to past prospects - strategically and with confidence. This isn’t about being salesy; it’s about connecting with people you already know are interested in what you do. When done right, these conversations are warm, natural, and often lead to a yes.

Mistake 4: Thinking More Content Will Fix Everything

Content is powerful, but it’s not the whole solution. Posting more often won’t help if your message doesn’t resonate. Coaches who focus on quantity over clarity often end up feeling burnt out with little to show for it.

The Fix: Shift to intentional, preselling content. Every post or email should move your audience closer to trusting you and seeing you as the solution to their problem. It’s not about saying more - it’s about saying what matters.

When you know who you’re speaking to, what they need and want, what hasn't worked for them previously and how to show them you’re the coach for them, everything starts to click and clients start to flow.

That’s exactly what we focus on in January Jumpstart. This 4-week program is designed to help you:

? Define your Best-Fit Client so your messaging stands out.

? Refine your offer to make it an easy decision for the right person.

? Confidently reconnect with past prospects and warm leads.

? Use my Six-Figure Content Sales System to attract new clients through social media and email.

This isn’t about adding more to your plate. It’s about simplifying, refining and doing the right things - the things that will lead you to attracting clients without burning out.

If you’re tired of spinning your wheels and ready to book 2–5 clients in January, let’s do this together.

Send me a message saying CLIENTS and I'll share the details.

You’ve already got what it takes to reach your goals. Sometimes, you just need a clearer, simpler path.

In your corner
