Mistakes - a Gateway to Creative Magic

Mistakes - a Gateway to Creative Magic

Turning your "mistake" into magic is about patience, playfulness and pushing through fear into the realm of the open mind.

The bigger mistake that’s holding you back is when you allow the voice of the “inner critic” to blur the line between excellence and perfectionism.

It’s a fine line, but you can differentiate when you pay close attention.

The ability to discern, in that moment, can mean the difference between a complete stall-out and "leaping small buildings in a single bound" with your creative genius.

When it comes to mistakes, who really likes to make them? If we’re being honest?

Right. I don’t. ?? Most of us don’t.

They slow us down, cause frustration & can make us feel like we’re actually less capable or smart than we thought.

But, if we can push through those feelings - the ones that aren’t really true - we can get to the gold.

A lot of times, a “mistake” is really only a first or second pass at something that’s important to you. You’ll know it’s important if you’re willing to keep after it and risk falling on your face again.

If not, you'll probably just shrug it off.

Sometimes, though, you might do what I used to do.

? Have a great idea or vision in your head

? Set out strong, ready to put it into motion

? Then, when it doesn’t look or feel the way you envisioned, determine that you must not be doing it right ... or that you need to learn more first ...and that’ll take forever, so you stop cold.

?? Yet...you can’t stop thinking about it or seeing the vision of you pulling it off.

Now, you’re stuck. Frustrated. Maybe even angry for feeling like something's wrong with you - not being able to make that vision a reality.

There’s another way, though. My guest on The Naked Vibes Show podcast this week is Kelly Brown. She’s a creative powerhouse - a multi-disciplinary artist as a songwriter, musician, graphic designer & illustrator. She’s also a corporate art director and university educator.

She teaches her students about the voices in their heads and how we can use them to our advantage.

The “inner critic” can be a valuable friend in our creative journey, in our relationships, work, & life purpose if we learn how and when to listen. And when to tell it to ah-hmmshut up! ??

I think you’ll get a lot of value from this conversation. We can all use reminders of why our "voice" - the essence of who we are - matters.

Give the episode a listen (or watch the video for some extra laughs).

Leave a comment and share your favorite take-away. It's likely to enlighten someone else.

I’m planning an intimate retreat this year - for just a few people - to deepen your relationship to your creative genius. When you’re in touch with the essence of who you are, you feel more ALIVE. Your relationships are more satisfying. You live with more joy, purpose, peace, and plenty. You create with courage.

And your leadership? It's on a whole different level than where most of your colleagues are operating.

I’m just getting a barometer right now. If you’re interested in an in-person retreat in an inspiring setting (think Sedona, Nashville, or even Greece), please do me a favor…

Send me a DM and let me know what’s most on your mind right now.

?a desire to deepen or transform a relationship?

?a career transition?

?a creative project that could use some guidance … rather, some fire to get it moving

This is the year to do it. I can light that fire & then some. ??

I’d love to have you be a part of an unforgettable small group experience that will not only inspire you, but give you practical tools for living at the level you desire and deserve. You’ve got a lot to bring and I’d be honored to be a part of your journey. This group is for a few individuals who are serious about living on purpose, moving in courage, and having fun with others who support them on the journey.

I can't wait to hear from you!

??

Kimberly

P.S. If you've found value in The Naked Vibes Show podcast, I'd so appreciate you taking a minute to give it an honest review on Apple. 5 (or even 4) stars would be stellar! Adding a comment would be super-stellar.

Reviews help Apple know to tell more people about the show. You never know who needs to hear a message of encouragement right about now.
