Mistakes!

It has now been more than a year since I sat down to watch any television. Better yet, I don’t have any TV in my apartment. Amidst other fellow human being, I do find myself disconnected with the news but cannot escape listening to something on the radio or reading some headlines on the Internet. Last night as I was driving, my Bluetooth adaptor couldn’t connect to my phone to allow me to listen to either an audio book or music as I always do when I around driving for Uber and Lyft. I then turned on the radio and learned that once again, our nation is experiencing two mass shootings: One in El Paso, Texas and another one in Dayton, Ohio. Just as the many mass shooting that preceded, these ones seem to have racial and anti-immigrant coloration. I felt compelled to write this article as an immigrant, US Citizen, Retired US Army Soldier, and simply as Human Being.
“Who kills by sword will perish by the sword”
Everyone dies: Why have human being not come to realize that, in the end, everyone dies? Those before us who committed mass atrocities in Germany, South Africa, United States, Rwanda, and all over the world are not alive today. Yet we continue to take away the lives of others just as if in doing so, we extend our own lives on earth. The most beautiful thing about this country is that it is a new nation, a melting pot made of individuals from around the world. Our forefathers wanted to build a country that was very different from other mature nations, free from corruptions, with respect to the freedom and rights of its citizens. I guess what they failed to remember is that this land was taken away from the natives not in a peaceful manner or based on friendly and noble intends. I am not sure whether there is a direct correlation with what we see today and the saying “Who kills by the sword will perish by the sword” but it just seems like it. Knowing that history tends to repeat itself, I do believe that, given the history of this nation, observing the direction that this country has embarked in, citizens have the right to bear arms. But to every right there should also be responsibilities. I think we’ve gone from noble intends of freedom or liberty to libertinism where some simply feel empowered and embolden by some unknown privileges inherited from the time of slavery. Nations around the world are populated with citizens from all countries and it is probably not going to change. One would think that we, as people, have had enough time to learn from history and realize the declaration of independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Somehow, we know how to refer to the US Constitution, this most revered document, only to cite and modify when it serves the interests of those in the position to do so. My cousin once jokingly told me, regardless of what you do, no one lives this earth alive, in other words everyone dies.
Proverbs 26:11: “As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool repeats his folly”
Those who take the time learn about life and our purpose in life quickly realize that, as of today, there is not a single soul experiencing life on earth for the first time. What most probably don’t understand or simply don’t care to learn is that we don’t always come back in the same race or citizenship as in our previous life. The Karmic Laws or Laws of Nature allow each one of us to have a taste of the fruits of our own previous choices, whether it later happens here on earth or in the beyond. The karmic Law of cause and effect is well explained in the Bible: “what a man has sown, he will also reap”. Following this simple and clear wisdom leads to understanding that the black man of today may well be the white man of yesterday, yesterday’s slave may well be today’s white man, the American of today may well be the Mexican of yesterday, so on and so forth. In accordance with Karmic Laws, it is highly possible that we are who we are today so that we can taste the fruits of our own actions from our previous lives. If we find ourselves disliking other human being simply by their appearance, it may well be that such feeling is connected to our previous lives. Those who are carrying these atrocious, vicious, and immoral acts of violence may have been given the opportunity to taste the fruits of actions from their previous lives. As opposed to working on getting rid of these vices from within, they simply perpetuate it. This is an instance where the Proverbs 26:11 “As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool repeats his folly” finds its significance.
Before you decide to carry any act of atrocity of any kind against any fellow human being, I urge you to remember that this feeling may be connected to your own previous lives. The color of your skin may have well been the same as that person. You may have been either a victim or the perpetrator of whatever created such feeling in a previous life. The feeling that you experience today is nothing but a call to action, a prime opportunity to elevate yourself as to get rid of it once and for all. Ask yourself the simple question: As today’s American, what if I was yesterday’s Mexican? As today’s White, what if I was yesterday’s Black? As today’s Citizen, what if I was yesterday’s Immigrant? As today's official, what if I was yesterday's constituant? etc...
The universal power that delivers every human being from Karmic Laws is Pure Love. If you don’t know how to implement Pure Love in your live, then:
- Remember the declaration of independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
- Apply the Golden Rule: “Treat others as you would like to be treated”
Those who have had the privilege to see earth from above can’t see boundaries and borders but only one beautiful blue planet. They have reached the conclusion that whether we like it, want it or not, we are on this mothership together. We may not want to hear this, but the fact is that the ship is at the tail end of its natural journey through the Cycle of Creation that takes all matters through Evolution towards Perfection.
