Mistake & Learning #3
Gaurav Chauhan

We started our journey in 2011 and for the first couple of years, we involved ourselves in almost all aspects of the business. We were heavily involved in generating leads, submitting proposals, attending daily client calls and writing code as well.
We just didn't know how to delegate because we thought only we can do the job in the best possible way. We were only able to handle a few clients. We lost a couple of projects because we just didn't have enough bandwidth.
By the end of 2013, we decided to take a back seat and started delegating development work. It was hard in the beginning, but we were lucky enough to find amazing team members who performed far better than us. We were simply amazed by the productivity. Our fellow team members even mocked us on all team outings for our technical skill set in comparison to them. (Boys having fun)
It worked well until 2016 and then we decided took the plunge to delegate business development as well. This change was much harder and took longer than delegating technical part.
We have amazing set of team members taking care of sales, marketing and delivering the products to our clients. Delegating and giving freedom has helped us immensely.
I would love to know what worked for you? What mistakes did you make?

6 年Completely agree with you Delegation is really an important and critical skill for any leader. While it seems like an easy thing to delegate but the art of delegation involves many things and explores multiple facets of your personality like ability to trust and to be a good teacher and student both at same time.
