On 23 August 2023, between 5:47 pm to 6:04 pm, ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 successfully softlanded on the moon creating a historic event making India the first country to land on the unchartered territory known as the south pole of the moon. ISRO on the same morning announced the landing time of the Lander named Vikram.
The launch of the spacecraft of mission Chandrayaan-3 was done on the 14th of July, 2023 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre’s second launch pad in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The spacecraft then entered the lunar orbit on the 5th of August, 2023 with an expected landing near the south pole on the date 23 August which successfully came to be true.
On the 20th of August, 2023 the news of Chandrayaan reducing its orbit into the finalmost orbit around the moon was widespread across the world. ISRO had also announced an expected delay in the landing, fortunately, the lander landed at the estimated time without delaying the mission.

ISRO’s hard work and smartness were also portrayed when the Lander module at the time of landing approximately 150 meters above the surface of the moon re-targetted and redirected its landing point to the correct landing space on the surface showing the smart technology used for the mission by India.
On this successful event, the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi who from South Africa had virtually joined ISRO in the live telecast of the landing of Chandrayaan-3 also congratulated the country as well as ISRO. The Prime Minister in his speech after the success of the mission mentioned that the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 is not only a proud moment for India but as well as the world as this is the success of humankind. And that this mission has set an example and it will not only be helpful for India’s future space missions but also be helpful for the other countries in their future space missions.
On this very occasion, the people of India celebrated the success of ISRO and gathered around various parts of India to watch the publically displayed LIVE telecast of Chandrayaan-3’s landing on the moon.?As India creates history, the public of India proudly congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation for their successful project mission Chandrayaan-3.
