Mission Statement
Courtney Wilkerson, BSN, RN
Texas Health Resources Emergency Department RN
My short-term professional goals are to graduate summa cum laude with my BSN from Texas A&M’s College of Nursing and pass my NCLEX-RN exam to obtain licensure as a registered nurse. I am seeking to commit to a position as a graduate nurse resident in an emergency department. Working as a BSN educated registered nurse in an ER has been my absolute dream for as long as I can remember. This goal used to be long-term but has quickly transformed into my short-term aspiration.
My long-term professional goal is to remain as a nurse in an emergency department and work towards obtaining specialized certifications to improve my practice and further my education. I would love to become a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and a Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN). Both of these credentials would open wonderful opportunities for me as well as allow me to provide even better and more specialized care for my patients. I have also considered returning to school later in life to obtain my MSN degree.
Dedication, collaboration, advocacy, and compassion are personal core values that I strive to uphold. While there are six core values that have been instilled in me as an Aggie (Respect, Integrity, Excellence, Leadership, Loyalty, and Selfless Service), I believe that these values are a unique addition to my nursing practice as an individual. These values showcase my desire to provide care to my patients that is committed and true, involves a team effort towards excellence, and is patient centered with kindness.

Daily, I promote exemplary nursing practice through upholding my core values, aggie core values, and by allowing myself to be a life-long learner. This allows me to act as a leader and as a strong example of who a nurse should be while also dedicating time to improving myself. I also promote this exemplary practice through safety, nondiscrimination, and advocacy for those who are vulnerable. The heart of nursing involves equal care that is of the highest quality and I strive to provide just that.
To my patients, community, and profession, I commit to a career of lifelong learning and compassion. I also commit to showing up with a full heart and full attention to provide high quality, dedicated, and equal care to every single patient and family that I encounter. By doing so, I can provide individualized care one patient at a time to improve the health of our own community. Lastly, I commit to being a safe and prudent nurse every day.
