Mission Possible: Genesis SFL to Launch First Space Biology Mission Aboard The Exploration Company’s Nyx Capsule in 2025

Budapest, July 30, 2024 – Genesis Sustainable Future Ltd. (Genesis SFL), a Hungarian startup supported by the European Space Agency, is set to participate in The Exploration Company’s upcoming mission, "Mission Possible," scheduled for 2025.

Mission Possible is The Exploration Company’s first payload carrying mission and the midsize demonstrator of their future spacecraft, Nyx. For this mission, their demonstrator capsule will transport 300 kg of payload, including Genesis SFL's MayaSat-1, to Low Earth Orbit. The capsule will remain in orbit for 3 hours before re-entering and returning to Earth.

As part of this mission, Genesis SFL will deploy its biological incubator nanosatellite, MayaSat-1. This cubesat is designed to transport biological samples for academic and institutional research. This mission is a significant milestone for Genesis SFL, establishing it as the first and only company in Hungary to provide such a service. The company plans to continuously offer research rideshare services for smaller payloads in the future.

About Genesis SFL

Genesis SFL, which evolved from a Mars terraforming research group to a limited company in 2020, received key support from the European Space Agency’s ESA BIC program and the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Hungary in 2022. This support was crucial in finalizing their Genoplant portable laboratories, which are designed to detect complex molecules, specifically "stress indicators," in plant liquids. These devices advance agricultural practices both on Earth and in space.

Genesis SFL offers affordable rideshare options to Low Earth Orbit, collaborating with partners such as The Exploration Company. This makes it easier to launch small payloads (0.001 – 5 kg) into space by reducing the cost of access and providing practical solutions for small-scale missions.

About The Exploration Company
