The Mission Monthly

We started the new year with a call to Serve More in ‘24, and now that we’re a month removed from serving across dozens of communities in support of the MLK: Legacy of Service national campaign, we are off to a great start.?

Even in the face of inclement weather nationwide, our veterans and volunteers didn’t flinch. Projects were scheduled, re-scheduled, pushed back, bumped up, yet in almost all cases, our platoons and the communities they serve in made impactful service projects happen in nearly 40 cities across the country. More than 1,500 volunteers were inspired to serve in honor of this annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service campaign, and they ended up contributing to nearly 4,000 volunteer hours where they were needed the most.?

Indeed, it was a full team effort and took all our resources to leave visible impact. And now it’s time to Spring into Service.?

We have opportunities right around the corner to get involved in.?

  • Earth Month: Rooted in Service – this national month of service is in honor of Earth Day, National Volunteer Week, and National Volunteer Month. All April, we’ll be celebrating service and sustainability in our communities from coast to coast. ?
  • Operation Military City Salute – our eighth installment of the Mass Deployment program, we’ll be putting boots on the ground this summer in San Antonio. Right now, we’re looking for some veterans to join our crew for this high-impact week of service. See below for more details about this amazing opportunity.?
  • Platoon Leadership Teams (PLT)?– we're actively and always looking for veterans in all our platoon cities to join their local leadership teams. For more information about eligibility, and roles, or to apply to your local PLT, visit HERE.?

Want to Serve More in ‘24 with The Mission Continues? These are your next amazing opportunities to do so. Shortly after that we’ll be gearing up for our 9/11: United in Service and Veterans Day: Veterans in Service campaigns, and we plan to sprinkle in many service opportunities in between all these national events at your local level.?

We'll see you out there.?

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT:

MLK: Legacy of Service Edition

During the month of January, our service platoons led a collective effort by hosting service projects for veterans and their communities in cities across the country as part of our MLK: Legacy of Service campaign. All service projects exemplified the values Dr. King championed, honoring his legacy, and tackling the challenges our communities are facing. Special thanks to the dediicated support of our Presenting Sponsor: RTX.

SPONSOR SHOUTOUT: CPS Energy

The Mission Continues is thrilled to announce that longtime veteran supporter and advocate CPS Energy is joining us in partnership as a sponsor this June for Operation Military City Salute. As a sponsor to our eighth-annual Mass Deployment program, CPS Energy's support will be felt in several communities throughout Greater San Antonio during a week of high-impact service this June, and the effects of the event will be felt by these neighborhoods for years to come. Thanks for signing up to help us put more boots on the ground at Operation Military City Salute, CPS Energy. Without partners like you, we would not be able to produce the impact our veterans and communities need.
