The Mission Monthly - May 2024
The Mission Continues
We empower veterans adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact in over 40 cities nationwide.
A Letter from our President
Earlier this month we made the exciting announcement that our popular and first-of-its-kind Women Veterans Leadership Program was graduating from TMC and moving to its new organizational home at Beneath the Service , effective June 1st. And after spending time with its new leaders – Niki Marin & Leo Marin – and the seventh cohort of WVLP, we couldn’t be more excited about the future of the program.
We have taken WVLP to great heights at The Mission Continues, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built. More importantly, we are immensely proud of our 400+ women veteran alumnae, all of whom have developed deep connections to each other, grown as leaders, and become stronger and more confident communicators.?These women are part of a growing movement of leaders who are rediscovering their authentic selves and are dedicated to making a positive impact on the women that follow them.
Since its inception, the interest level has been unmatched with nearly 4,200 applicants in just over four years. It’s clear that our women veterans want more WVLP, and this is what Beneath the Service – a woman veteran-led organization – is built for, and where they excel.
Like The Mission Continues, BtS is a veteran-serving nonprofit organization focused on empowering veterans through their post-military transition. Where TMC provides opportunities for veterans to continue their service and leadership in under-resourced communities, Beneath the Service enables veterans to reconnect with their purpose and identity through leadership and professional development. BtS has the experience and the skills to?lead WVLP to the next level of impact.
And with that, The Mission Continues is confident that not only will WVLP live on to impact thousands more women veterans across the country, but with BtS leading the way, the potential for growth of this program is limitless.??
To the hundreds of WLVP Alumnae, along with the alumnae of our Women Veterans Leadership Summit: Beneath the Service will welcome you with open arms, and we look forward to seeing you step into leadership roles with WVLP as it grows. And remember, you are, and will always be, part of The Mission Continues family. Our service platoons will continue to be a home and tribe for you and for all future WVLP alumnae, and we are committed to ensuring women veterans always feel celebrated, appreciated and empowered through TMC.

President, The Mission Continues

In recognition of Memorial Day, our El Paso and Boston Service Platoons honored our fallen heroes with heartfelt tributes. In El Paso, members placed roses at Ft Bliss National Memorial Cemetery.
In Boston, the platoon placed nearly 500 American flags by headstones at Mount Benedict Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA.
