KnUW Family Legacy: Sold Out and Building a Legacy Together

The second KnUW Family Legacy (KnUW-FL) event was an incredible milestone—completely sold out, with families and individuals coming together to engage in empowering conversations about estate planning, legacy building, and financial resilience. As we continue to grow this movement, the impact of collaboration, meaningful tools like BeComeTalkCards, and the drive of the community have shown us the transformative power of collective action.

?

3 Key takeaways

1. Scaling for Growth: From just 4 attendees at the first event to a sold-out capacity of 16, this event demonstrated the growing demand for meaningful conversations around legacy planning. Managing this growth has stretched and strengthened my skills as a producer.

2. The Importance of Collaboration: Working with Martin Stevens and Yvonne Ferguson taught me the value of balancing different leadership styles to deliver a unified, impactful message for the community.

3. Creating Safe Spaces: Seeing families open up about sensitive topics highlighted the importance of crafting safe, inclusive environments for these conversations. This remains central to the event’s success.

?

Learnings/Observations for BeComeTalkCards

1. Conversations That Continue: Attendees found the BCTCs to be a practical tool they could take home to extend the conversations started at the event, with some planning to use them during family gatherings.

2. Bridging Generations: The cards created a neutral platform for different generations to share perspectives, making complex topics like estate planning accessible and engaging.

3. Proven Impact: Using BCTCs during quickfire exercises demonstrated their ability to encourage actionable thinking, such as identifying Power of Attorney preferences or discussing financial goals.

The Power of Collaboration

This event would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of Martin Stevens, founder of Grand Legacy events, and Yvonne Ferguson, a passionate educator and speaker. Their expertise, combined with the creative production of the event, ensured that attendees left with not just knowledge but actionable steps. Collaboration allowed us to present diverse perspectives, strengthen the event’s content, and connect with the community on a deeper level.

?

Attendees’ Outcomes and Next Steps

Attendees left with:

- A deeper understanding of wills, trusts, Power of Attorney, and financial planning.

- Actionable steps to start their legacy planning, such as creating a will or discussing future plans with loved ones.

- Empowerment to address sensitive topics with confidence and clarity.

As we move toward the main event in March 2025, our mission is to have at least 9 attendees secure a will, Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), Legacy Planner, or Trust. These participants will also have the opportunity to share their stories and experiences at the March event, inspiring others to take action.

Looking Ahead

I’m excited to produce the next session as we continue building toward March 2025. This journey is about more than just events—it’s about creating lasting change and empowering families to take control of their legacies.

We’re calling on communities, groups, and organizations to collaborate with us in bringing the KnUW Family Legacy concept to your space. Let us help you start these vital conversations and create actionable outcomes for your community. Together, we can build a future where knowledge, understanding, and wisdom are the foundation of every legacy.

?

“Legacy planning is not just about wealth; it’s about empowering our communities to thrive through Knowledge, Understanding, and Wisdom. Let’s build together. Salute.”
