On a mission to find Sri Lankans with Dyslexic Thinking to support children with dyslexia.

Did you know that, Dyslexic Thinking is a skill that you can list as a skill in LinkedIn.

I'm on a mission to find role models from Sri Lanka who have Dyslexic thinking. Who are not afraid to say it and help the younger generation come out much stronger. Yes, and help parents and teachers understand that this is prevalent and that these children/students need more support.

Yes, in a country like Sri Lanka Dyslexia is not talked about or understood much. Many parents and teachers are often unaware that such a condition exists. Therefore the children do not get the support they need from home or school.

It is a silent disability that does not get noticed much and since every single student is running the same fast pace rat race, these individuals are not considered gifted but rather stupid and lazy. But with early diagnosis, intervention and suitable accommodation these students can excel in any field.

My second son is Dyslexic and we as a family in general and he as a young school going kid had a really bad time since teachers were not aware of Dyslexia and did not know how to support him in the classroom.

And we are on a mission to help those parents and kids come out and identify that they are gifted in many other ways. Yes, they may have difficulty in reading and writing, but they have so many other gifts that make them unique. If you look around many of the greatest minds in the world have had dyslexia. Such as Thomas Alwa Eddison, Leanardo Da Vinci, Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise and also #richardbranson who is a very vocal advocate for Dyslexia.

So help me identify those unique Sri Lankan people with this gift. As we launch a support group to help and nurture the hidden talents of these uniquely gifted and talented set of individuals.

This year in October which is the Dyslexia awareness month and also the month that we celebrate world children's day we are planning an art and craft exhibition-titled "The power of Dyslexic Thinking". Also there will be many other programs to create awareness about this silent disability. So if you or your organization would like to be a part of this great endeavor please get in touch with me or reach out to?Nelum Wijayasekara?or?Shaakya Nathavitharana?who are the two main organisers of this exhibition and the awareness campaign.
