Below Harris reviews how the military veteran community is plagued with a high suicide rate and raises awareness of William McMahon, a veteran trying to change that by raising funds for Mission 22.

I can’t pretend to know what it’s like to be a veteran.

But reading articles on veterans like William McMahon has given me a glimpse into their world.

William is a Marine veteran who is all-too-familiar with the struggles of military reintegration.

Not only has William experienced his own struggles with PTSD but he’s also watched friends and family members fight vicious battles once they return home.

William has already given more than most people will in a lifetime. Yet today, he’s continuing to give even more.

The Marine Corps veteran is continuing his service by hosting a fundraiser on August 10th to raise awareness of our veterans’ battles with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries, and suicide.

The proceeds from the event will go directly to Mission 22, a nonprofit that is fighting the war against veteran suicide.

As civilians, it’s our duty to support and give back to the veterans who risked everything for our safety and freedom.

If you are in the Fitchburg, MA area on August 10th, please consider attending William’s event.

At the very least, share Wiliam’s story and consider donating to his cause. All donations can be made at https://mission22.networkforgood.com/projects/76997-stomp-out-veteran-suicide/.

I have not personally researched or been involved with veteran suicide, but I have experienced personal loss of my mother from suicide so this is a cause I want to learn more about. I cannot imagine the turmoil one must feel to take their life, but it’s something we should all pay attention to. Thanks for sharing.
