Top leadership couldn’t get frontline clerks to follow through on changes required to implement a court case management system successfully. It was tough communicating geographically across this major metropolitan jurisdiction of courthouses distributed over roughly 2,500 square miles. Even if the presiding judge could easily reach individual judges, they didn’t necessarily cooperate. The voters elected them, so the electorate determined the future of each judge, not the presiding judge.?

I met with the presiding judge and offered to help her determine how to overcome the communication problem. Can you guess what I identified as the missing link??

Read this week’s scenario blog post to find out.?

?SHOWCASE CONTRIBUTOR?

While authoring each of my two books and teaching project management at the Master of Health Administration for the University of Washington, I relied on a contribution from one of the most talented individuals I know in hospital management, Florence Chang, President of MultiCare Health System. Florence taught me that strategic planning must answer three fundamental questions about an organization’s purpose: Are we doing the right thing? Are we doing it right the first time? Are we achieving the greatest value??

Find out more about Florence’s strategic planning questions by reading my book, The Integrator and Project Management for Healthcare Information Technology available on Amazon.?
