"I am of reactionary temperament, a word that we often confuse with the one of retrograde." In 1947, "We go out from of a poor, parsimonious era, and we want to dream of luxury. "says Christian Dior to qualify his first perfume.
The original bottle takes the code of its stitching silhouette: it will be a crystal Baccarat amphora with a voluptuous curve. For him Miss Dior has to embody renewal: hence this fragrance is both dense and green, with gardenia and sage that extends with the rose, neroli and jasmine. It seduces a classic beauty like Elizabeth Taylor, but also young unconventional women like Juliette Greco who becomes one of its unconditional.
And to better embody this new breath of youth with Miss Dior, the designer has a genius idea: he goes from curves to lines. The couturier with the vocation of an architect imagines a new perfume bottle, with a houndstooth pattern, a black ribbon for the eau de toilette, white for the perfume. Its massive glass bottle is inspired by the architecture of the moment, that of Perret, Prouvé or Le Corbusier, for which the master has a huge interest.
This revolutionary perfume, never outdated, occupies a place of choice in the history of perfume: this fragrance has imposed the perfume of fashion designer, an exercise that was followed afterwards by all the most prestigious brands. And in 2013, Miss Dior was offered the rare honor of an exhibition in Le Grand Palais in Paris.
