Misrepresentation that should be fixed

You may have stumbled over a website, https://emergencylightingcompliance.com.au/ which explains emergency lighting compliance in Australia.

What may not be clear is that this site is owned and maintained by Clevertronics and is used to drive customers to their website. Now, I don't have an issue with this practice, however, there are three points that are listed on this website that I feel are skewed or misrepresented to steer the customer towards their products, which should be fixed.

As this site tries to mascarade as a Third-party providing information to unsuspecting customers it attempts to point out the Pros and Cons of computer-monitored systems, to which I have three issues

  1. Listed as a PRO of computer monitored systems they state "lifetime support program and dedicated point of contact and service (Clevertronics)". This is a point that should be listed as "vendor specific" without detailing the name Clevertronics as other vendors also provide the same service and support. This is important as this site tries to give a third-party unbiased account. This would be different if they told the customers that Clevertronics was presenting and providing this information.
  2. Next, they list under Cons "Many Companies offer monitored systems, some such as DALI can be costly to install and maintain" This is misrepresenting and cherry-picking information to suit their agenda. I have examined a large number of sites comparing the Clevertronics installation cost (both Zoneworks and Hive) and when comparing like-for-like products a DALI system is almost always cheaper to install and maintain. Now because of competition and choice in the market, it is possible to find a premium system that would be more expensive, but this is not the Norm. Also, what we tend to see is that competition on a DALI site drives down the purchase costs. I have witnessed 2nd and 3rd round pricing between competing Brands drive down the originally quoted purchase price. Moreover, with the introduction of the DALI wireless Protocol (Which is an Australian Standard AS62386-104 and AS62386-201) the wiring costs are significantly less. There is no technical reason through the Bill of material costs that DALI is more expensive to manufacture, deploy or maintain.
  3. And lastly under Cons "Emergency fittings must be of a brand and model compatible with the installed system" is also misrepresenting the information to suit their Proprietary systems. This should be changed to "Emergency fittings used in a Proprietary system must be of a brand and model compatible with the installed system" as a DALI-certified product can be used on any brand of DALI control system that supports emergency. Additionally, DALI-certified products from different brands can be used together and interchangeably which gives customers choice.

My callout to Clevertronics ANZ is that if you are going to present customers with information either present it directly as yourself or present non-biased and factual information. Cherrypicking edge-cases to strengthen your position is not what I would expect from a market leader.

Nice call Josh "some such as DALI can be costly to install and maintain" ... potentially misrepresenting statement indeed.

Today clevertonics has added their name to the site which I congratulate as a step forward, but the inaccuracies still remains.
