The misrepresentation of Rumi

The misrepresentation of Rumi

It came to my attention that my earlier post was strife with inaccuracies and misinformation. I took a deeper look into this and realized how ignorant I was to the westernization of eastern poetry and writing and how the west has systematically erased the deeper meaning and significance of such works.

Its interpretation is chock full with misrepresentation and inaccurate translations.

"With the mass adoption of social media, inaccurate translations only spread further. When false quotes spread like wildfire, the importance of recognizing and actively combatting them only increases.

The first step in this comes with recognizing writers who pay due respect to Rumi’s message and not their own"

With this, I want to thank the person who brought this to my attention. I apologize for making this mistake in perpetuating misinformation. I will do better.

For more on this I found this article in my search for truth. https://lnkd.in/gYvfhkjqI

"In remaining true to Rumi, his translations may require more effort to read and challenge preconceptions, but truly understanding the foreign is precisely that: retaining the text’s original spirit instead of adapting it to your own beliefs."

Chi-miigwech and thank-you.
