Miserable to Exciting
When hate turns to love

Miserable to Exciting

I recently came across an article with a brilliant concept:

Goldman Sachs wants the most miserable engineers to build a trading platform.

It was an article about how the Goldman Sachs global banking and markets team is recruiting engineers to build a new platform for trading equities, and they’re particularly interested in candidates who will use a program that most coders hate.

What a cool idea: Take the biggest haters of a product or service and have them create something better. Can you imagine the exciting results of that?

I come across leaders who hate their job or company. I come across brilliant, successful leaders with who hate their resumes. I come across accomplished, inspirational leaders who hate interviews. And yet they say, I don’t need a coach. I don’t need help. Coaching is for people who have no idea what they’re doing, and I know exactly what I’m doing.

Really.

Let’s say that you land that dream job, and it turns out to be a nightmare instead of a dream. Let’s say that you hate your boss. Let’s say that the company is suddenly taken over by a VC group and their only mission is to bring shareholder value.

Now what do you do? You’re back to square one and probably hating life if you’re doing this alone.

But if you have a coach to guide you through this, think of the results! Your expertise combined with the coach’s support. The possibilities are exciting!

Just like the Goldman Sachs coders, imagine making something awesome out of something that you hate or that makes you feel anxious. Imagine getting comfortable (or more comfortable) with accepting help from an expert and then seeing your salary increase $30K. Imagine accepting help and then finding a better job at a better company that pays more. Imagine feeling stress free when the next job doesn’t work out and then finding a better, higher-paying job after that. Imagine how your life would change.

Find a great support system that helps you navigate the job search chaos and you could transform something that you hate into something that you love. The possibilities are exciting!

What an intriguing concept! Turning the tables and harnessing the discontent of experts to fuel innovation is truly inspiring. It's a reminder that sometimes the most unlikely sources can lead to groundbreaking solutions. Similarly, seeking guidance or coaching, even for accomplished professionals, can unlock new opportunities and perspectives. Embracing support can lead to transformative changes in both personal and professional realms. It's all about finding the right support system to navigate challenges and turn them into opportunities for growth and success.
