MIS Shenzhen Celebrates its 7th Anniversary

On 18th October, Merchiston International School Shenzhen, which has inherited its British alma mater's nearly 200 years of history, culture and educational essence, ushered in the seventh birthday celebration since it’s founded in the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area.

The celebration ceremony kicked off with a?melodious bagpipe sound. Guests from all walks of life gathered with students and parents to witness this important milestone moment of MIS?Shenzhen, and expressed their sincere blessings for a better future?for MIS.

Seven years of journey, we have been keeping in mind our?initial goal, every step forward is solid and firm. From Edinburgh to Shenzhen, two location in one brand, MIS?Shenzhen has built a bridge of educational integration and humanistic exchanges for the two campus separated by thousands of miles. It also provides a steady stream of quality international education resources for Shenzhen to gather overseas talents.

Ms. Claudia W.K. Liu, Chief Principal of Lighthouse Education Group, reviewed in her speech the remarkable history of MIS?Shenzhen over the past seven years and its encouraging achievements in the field of education. Over the past seven years, MIS?Shenzhen has been upholding the core values of ‘Academic Excellence and Eductaion Warmth’, sowing the ‘seeds’ of holistic education and has nurtured?nearly 100 outstanding graduates. They have taken MIS?as a threshold?to enter the world's top institutions and have successfully achieved outstanding results. ‘Ready Ay Ready, over land and sea......’ When the MIS school song “Ready Ay Ready”, which has been sung for nearly two hundred years, was sung once again in the MIS's castle hall. All the guests stood up and sang along with the students. This scene also visualised the lyrics of the song, ‘A trumpet sound?across the years, her ancient rallying?call’.

In the subsequent commendation session, Mr. Lyu?Jianjun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shenzhen Lighthouse International Education Group and Founder of MIS, awarded certificates of honour and medals to the outstanding teachers in recognition of their dedication to nurturing and educating people with love and care in their positions. They were also encouraged to pursue excellence with more enthusiasm and to be the pursuers and promoters of lifelong learning.

After the ceremony, the guests started a campus tour to see?up close the vibrant learning environment and advanced teaching resources. On the?football?field, a unique garden party was in full swing, with more than ten demonstration projects led by students and teachers, such as?mini?golf games, STEM programmes, cultural and creative charity sales, etc., spreading all over the campus football?field and playground. The laughing and cheering there?wonderfully presented the open and diversified campus culture of MIS?and attracted the active participation of our?guests.

The 7th?anniversary marks?a new chapter. The start?of a new chapter means that more new challenges will be met. MIS?Shenzhen will take the celebration as an opportunity to gather the power to build a first-class international school, so that more children can enjoy high-quality international education services in China. Moreover, we will contribute to build an international education demonstration zone in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

At?this?important moment of seventh birthday celebration.?MIS Shenzhen invites everyone?to come to the our following Open Day on 23rd October to experience us, the?‘Magic Campus’, which is specially designed for students aged 4-18 years old. National Head of School?Shi Guopeng, an expert in international education, will give an introduction of?the American AP curriculum. The admissions team will also be there?to answer any questions about the curriculum, admission?application, scholarships?rules, and others?of concern to parents.
