The Mirror

The Mirror

Michael Jackson had a popular song called "Man in the Mirror". Most of you probably know it and will be able to sing along with some of the lyrics, which include the following lines:

I’m starting with the man in the mirror

I’m asking him to change his ways

And no message could have been any clearer

If you wanna make the world a better place

Take a look at yourself, and then make a change

Over the last few days, I actually decided to take some personal “mirror time”. I looked myself in the eye, and I asked myself this question.

“What do you really want from the next five years of your journey?”

This empowering question can only be answered when you accept personal responsibility for your destiny. You must own your dash through life. I don’t usually ponder the previous quote from my creed, but it is without a doubt, one hundred percent up to you, to think, analyze, choose, decide, act and persist until you finally reach your destination.

Only you can answer this very important question.

As I thought, reflected and wrote down my ideas, I realized that there were many shifts that I wanted to put into place. In order, to climb a mountain you must take thousands of small steps. This is true about the next five years of my life…and it’s also true about yours.

I began with the end in mind and then I created my small stepmassive actioninspiring goalmagnificent obsessionand mind-bending dream list, to help me decide what it was that I really wanted for the next five years. Some of the end results that I began with, to help me make my list were the following things:

? Develop a deeper level of spiritual understanding and awareness

? Visit Jerusalem

? Study scripture and write

? Deepen all family relationships

? One annual vacation with my five children and grandkids

? Learn more about their real goals and dreams

? Improve my physical health

? Reduce fat and increase muscle mass in measurable degrees

? Exercise daily with detailed plan of action

? Eat clean and stay hydrated

? Make my life an adventure

? Private yacht excursion one month on the water

? Spend one month in Italy

? Drive Route 66 in a convertible with no plan or time restrictions

? Play in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas

These are just a few of the areas that I addressed during my personal “mirror time”. So, how about you? What will your answers be? What decisions will you make? How many tiny little shifts will you implement? What inspiring goals will you elect to pursue?

It’s your time to answer this life-changing question. It’s a brand new year and it’s a perfect time to make some plans and take some action! As Michael Jackson famously used to sing, "If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a change."

So, what changes are you going to make in 2018 to make the next five years of your life, a truly amazing part of your dash?  It all starts with you deciding to do some “mirror time” and then asking yourself this very important question.

“What do I really want from the next five years of my dash through life?”
